The Canadian Intensive Care Foundation Supports Critical Care Research and Education
LIFE THROUGH KNOWLEDGEAt any time, regardless of income or geography, Canadians - babies to grandparents - can find themselves in urgent need of intensive care. Here, the most medically desperate cases are found. Here, research and education is most valuable, where knowledge can have the biggest impact on who lives, and who does not. The Canadian Intensive Care Foundation (CICF) is a national volunteer organization dedicated to improving the care of critically ill patients by raising funds for important clinical research and education. Patients forget about their first shelter in the hospital - the ICU. Precarious days in one-on-one care are often blurry for fragile patients, stressful for their families and friends, and not fondly recalled by anyone. ICU patients relocate and recover in other areas of the hospital under the care of other disciplines (e.g., neonatal or heart and stroke) related to their organ-specific, or disease-specific illness.
